"My daughter looks forward to her sessions each week"
You may wonder whether online therapy will be effective for your child. This is a great question! Research has shown that teletherapy can be just as effective as in-person therapy. Furthermore, in our experience, kids really enjoy and are comfortable engaging via a screen. Sessions incorporate topics and activities that will best engage your child while working on her specific speech and language goals.
"I love being able to see exactly what they're working on in sessions"
Another big advantage of online speech therapy is that you have the opportunity to easily observe sessions and talk with the therapist about strategies to support your child’s progress between sessions. We love this part too, because you as the caregivers are an absolutely essential part of the therapeutic process!
I Still Have Some Questions!
Answers to some of your frequently asked (and awesome) questions.
Q. Is my child old enough for speech therapy?
A. Speech therapy is for children of any age. Language development starts from the very beginning of life. If you feel your child is not meeting the expected speech and language milestones for his age, give us a call to discuss your concerns. The earlier the challenges are addressed, the better.
Q. What’s the difference between “speech” and “language”?
A. Very good question! In short, speech is the way we produce sounds and words. Therapy to address speech can include articulation, stuttering, and voice.
Language, on the other hand, is more about how we put words together to express our thoughts. Children could have an expressive language disorder (the way they express themselves); a receptive language disorder (the way they comprehend); or both.
Q. Will online therapy work for my child?
A. Online speech therapy has been shown to be engaging and effective for kids and teens with a wide variety of communication goals. Of course, each child has different needs and learning styles. We’d love to talk with you about whether teletherapy would be a good fit for your family.
Q. Who will be working with my child?
A. Danielle C. Smith is the founder and lead therapist of Speech Leader. Danielle has years of experience working with children and teens of all ages. In addition to her love of helping kids express themselves well, she also loves playing every kind of game there ever was (that doesn’t involve math, of course). Learn more about Danielle.
Q. What states do you provide online speech therapy in?
A. We provide services to residents of California, Texas, Washington, and Tennessee.
Q. Do you accept insurance?
A. At this time we are private pay only. However, we’re always happy to provide you with a superbill, which in many cases insurance will accept for reimbursement. Being private pay allows us to provide quality therapy to our clients for as long as is helpful, without being hindered by the restrictions often implemented by insurance companies.
Q. What’s the process for getting started?
A. The first step is to schedule a free consultation call. During this time we’ll discuss the concerns you have for your child and answer any questions you may have about online speech therapy. We look forward to talking with you!
"From the very beginning, Danielle displayed a genuine interest in helping Elise overcome her speech challenges. Her warm and engaging approach made Elise look forward to her sessions. Danielle's expertise and dedication to her work were evident in every session, and the results speak for themselves.
Not only did Danielle work closely with Elise during their scheduled sessions, but she also provided invaluable guidance for us parents on how to further help Elise at home between appointments. This holistic approach allowed Elise to make significant progress in a relatively short amount of time. I am beyond grateful for the incredible work Danielle has done with Elise.
Her professionalism, expertise, and compassionate nature have made a lasting impact on our daughter's life. I wholeheartedly recommend Danielle to any parent seeking a dedicated and highly skilled speech pathologist. Thank you, Danielle."-E.H. (Parent, WA)
